DOUGHNUT FOR THOUGHT...

The Canadian government just spent a million and a half dollars to build a Tim Horton's in Kandahar for the troops stationed there. Tim Horton's waived their $450,000 franchise fee; All other expenses--staffing, equipment, etc. was paid for by the taxpayers. They do still have to pay for their coffee and doughnuts, and the government expects to recoup their expenses within 4 or 5 years. I'm really not sure what I think of this. Do I even really care? At first, I was angry; I thought it was a huge waste of money. But then, in the grand scheme of things, a million and a half dollars is nothing! What does that amount to? Like 5 cents per person? And if it is a good morale booster, then why not? It's certainly going to better use than the BILLIONS that was wasted on the gun registry. Still...I can't help but think that the money could somehow be better spent. Like how 'bout using it to get our troops the Hell out of there...Do we really still WANT them in Afghanistan 4 or 5 years from now? It almost makes you wish that we DON''T recoup the expenses...huh...Thoughts? Comments?
