In fact, I'm sloppy at most everything I do. And I'm perfectly ok with that. You know why? Cause I get shit done.
If you're familiar with personality profiles, I am a Promoter style. That means I get distracted by bright shiny objects and I like a lot of attention. A perfect day in the life of a promoter would involve standing on a table surrounded by a group of people clapping just for her. Yup. Promoter through and through.
Painting is a methodical, detail-oriented task. (P.S. We love the Methodicals because they build our bridges and are really good at cutting in. I'm just not one of them.) I am far too busy fanning the flames of my celebrity to waste my time making sure the paint doesn't touch the ceiling or the baseboard.
I just finished the final wall in my living room and kitchen. So much slapdashery. There is paint everywhere. On me, on the floor, on the counters and cupboards. Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy.
Hooray, I say.
A colleague of mine has a mantra: Give yourself permission to succeed sloppily. And I have embraced this whole-heartedly.
Paint with wild abandon and enthusiastic gusto. Who cares if you miss a spot. More time to drink beer and dance on the speakers.
